I thought it would be helpful to share my readings since many seem concerned even after switching the thermal paste. Adjusting those fan curves really makes a difference! Idle temps are great. Under load, CPU stays below 47°C. GPU peaks around 55°C (all custom settings). Recently I changed my thermal paste on an ASUS Strix OC 1080Ti and also switched to the H100i Platinum stock paste (I5 9600K). I used MX-4.

Have you gone too far with the overclocking? 9600k performs better with a clock reduction. Either way, temperatures are quite high.

What improvements are possible with the 9600k as it's already stock? I built it just a month ago, so I'm still learning.

Execute Cinebench, monitor clock speeds during execution via hwinfo. Provide the results here. Then optimize for 5GHz+ performance—most 9600Ks should reach at least that speed.

Checked HWInfo; CPUID HWMon seems unreliable for temperatures on multiple systems.

intel i5 cpus often run at lower speeds than their potential, which aids in differentiating their offerings. many 9600k models reach 4.9-5.0 ghz, a significant increase compared to typical overclocking results for other chips. this brings performance close to that of 9700k/9900k/10900k in numerous games. i'm doubtful about some temperature readings being much lower than normal unless the room is quite cool.
