If it isn't brand new, you'll receive a message saying the code is already registered. When GTA V launched, we were already several years into games linked to accounts like Steam or Rockstar. It seems this might be tied to someone's Steam or Rockstar profile. Your 10-year-old install discs are essentially worthless.
