Recently I upgraded my gaming rig with a new motherboard, extra storage, a better case, a fresh power supply, and everything is working smoothly. But now Windows is shutting down automatically, and my product key isn’t valid anymore. Here are some tips to resolve the issue.

If activation fails, you’ll notice the message “get help with activation errors.” Look for a change hardware option to identify your OS—Home, Pro, or OEM—and then select the appropriate version.

I experienced this during a rebuild (similar to a Pro vs Home situation). I reinstalled the proper Windows version, and everything worked fine.

Since it was the only choice available, I went for the pro, but I couldn't afford it.

It's worth reaching out to Microsoft support; they might assist you, or you could consider purchasing an additional key.
