Unless you were running low on memory and swapping a lot from the start, this is just a placebo effect. Gaining more RAM won’t help much unless you’re truly out of it. Just sitting at your desk with an open browser didn’t cause memory issues—unless there were many unknown applications running behind the scenes.

I tested it at 2666mhz and it crashed after some time. My CPU is running at its default speed. For a stock setting of 3.7mhz, what speed would be ideal? I also completed the memory test successfully, which took five hours. Right now I’m using 2600mhz without any issues.

The 8700K supports running RAM at DDR4-2666 speed, which should have been possible. In theory, after six years it might experience silicon wear, but that seems unlikely. It’s important to note that you enabled XMP and then manually lowered the speed—this step is crucial because it raises the voltage supplied to the RAM, helping stabilize the higher frequency. If you followed this method, I suggest running it at the maximum feasible frequency. If it still reaches DDR4-2600, it won’t make a noticeable difference compared to DDR4-2666. Previously, I expected 2666 to work and considered testing higher speeds like 2800 or 2933 to approach closer to 3200. You could also try boosting the voltage at the IMC, though this carries some risk of damaging the silicon if overdone.

He just realized how great it is to handle a dual rank configuration. It feels more seamless.

Hmm, you seem to be focusing on a few points. Let's see if we can clarify what you're referring to.
