I just upgraded my GPU today and tried it in games, but once I started playing from my secondary hard drive, the usage hit 100%. This wasn’t a problem with my old GPU, but now it happens after the upgrade. Could someone help me with this? My PC specs are: Ryzen 5 3500 RTX 3060, 12 GB RAM, 8 GB RAM, 550 W PSU. Note: My previous GPU was a GTX 1050.

It's conceivable the VRAM, which you usually see during startup screens, runs significantly quicker on the latest graphics cards. Pushing a hard drive's read speeds to their limit is typical with modern systems, so I'm not sure if a GT1030 would be outdated enough to struggle.

i mean getting an SSD will allow faster loading if thats the issue, but otherwise it isnt really a problem. Something in a computer is always waiting for something else, right now its just the hard drive slowing things down rather than the old GPU

I also searched online and discovered that altering the port where my HDD is connected might help. I tried it, but the issue wasn't fully resolved. If you have any insights on this matter, please let me know. Thank you for your quick reply.

Professional PC assistance questions: 1. Identify the GPU model and name. Addressing your concern about the secondary hard drive reaching full capacity after upgrading your GPU requires understanding several possible factors. Here are some considerations: Driver problems – Ensure you have the most recent drivers installed; outdated or mismatched drivers may lead to performance issues like excessive disk usage. Clear all existing drivers and reinstall GeForce Experience or the drivers directly. Power Supply Unit (PSU) capacity – Your 550W PSU should support an RTX 3060, provided it's a reliable unit from a trusted brand. If you have extra components such as multiple SSDs, more than two RAM sticks, liquid cooling, or RGB lighting, a more powerful PSU might be needed. Potential bottleneck – The new GPU could be creating a performance limitation. The RTX 3060 represents a substantial upgrade over the GT 1030, and while your Ryzen 5 3500 should manage it, your 8GB RAM might become a constraint, particularly during intense gaming or workloads. Disk health – The secondary drive’s condition may affect its ability to handle the new GPU’s demands. You can assess drive health using tools like CrystalDiskInfo or Windows’ CHKDSK utility. Game installation issues – If the problem appears only with certain titles, it might stem from corrupted game files. Verify file integrity via Steam or reinstall the affected game.

It's roughly as strong as a potato, making it improbable to push limits on anything.
