I own an Alienware 17 R5 with a GTX 1080 card. I’m linking it to a 43-inch 1080p 60Hz TV via HDMI. My old TV needs a new display, so I’m considering the 4K PC monitor you linked. Since my laptop can’t run 4K gaming smoothly, I’ll lower the resolution to 1080p. The graphics card doesn’t support scaling to integers, so it depends on how the screen handles it—blurriness might occur but could be noticeable. On Reddit, people suggest setting Windows resolution to 4K and adjusting scaling in Windows to 200% to mimic 1080p. If I do that, what speed should the game run at? My port is HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.3; I’m not sure if DisplayPort affects performance. I wonder if switching to HDMI or DisplayPort will let me exceed 60fps or if the laptop’s 4K output caps it at 60fps.
