I'm using a 3700x CPU. The board includes built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. My soundblaster z audio card is in the bottom x1 slot. I have an RTX 2060 GPU. Edit: I should note I have four SATA drives, a mix of HDDs and two 2.5" SSDs.
It seems the issue might stem from insufficient PCIe lanes for the second M.2 slot.
But that's not what's occurring. I tested it last night with four lanes. Usually it runs at four lanes, but @DSTECH mentioned that with PCI-E slots 2 and 3, the drive operates at two lanes. I'm avoiding those slots now. Later I'll share a screenshot of the control panel using just two lanes, then compare it to all four lanes.
Review the B550 chipset specifications and note the number of USB, SATA, and NVME devices it can handle at the same time. Make sure to ignore your RTX 2060 and the first M.2 slot. Refer to the guide for detailed information.
The section mentioning 2x4 NVMe + 2x SATA 6Gbps is above what I said. Above me, there are four SATA drives. This setup seems unusual. I wasn’t aware of it before. But here’s the point. Look at the attached photo. I have two NVMe units currently active—one PCIe Gen4, another PCIe Gen3. The drive in slot 2 is Gen3. I also run four SATA drives, and both NVMe units are operating at full speed. Is it just that my motherboard is performing better than expected? Edit: If I’m honest, I’m not only running everything; I also have external devices. It might be time to admit I need a server. In short, I’m essentially pushing my motherboard beyond its intended limits in ways no one anticipated. How impressive!
How does overclocking function? Your motherboard's current BIOS version is running. If it's not up to date, you might try updating the firmware and check if that resolves your issue.
