I frequently encounter memory problems on my new computer.
I recently assembled a PC using MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk AMD Ryzen 7 5700X with Corsair vengeance LPX, 2x16 3600 DDR4, 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, plus some RTX 3060. After finishing the setup and configuring BIOS, I encountered a BSOD during Windows installation. Upon launching MemTest86, I noticed several RAM problems. I replaced the RAM with G.SKILL Aegis 2x16 DDR4 3200, which functioned properly for a short time. However, subsequent crashes occurred, followed by a permanent BSOD in Windows. Memtest86 again revealed RAM issues. I’m worried about possible damage to the motherboard during assembly and don’t want to invest further if it fails. Anyone else faced similar problems? Any advice would be appreciated.
Here are some points to consider:
Verify the RAM is correctly seated in the slot—pull the clips that secure it sideways and gently push the stick back until the tabs click back together.
Ensure the RAM slots match your system requirements. Consult the manual for slot identification.
Check the compatibility of your RAM with MSI’s website, as this list is verified.
Confirm your BIOS is current; updates can resolve issues.
Follow all instructions provided with the BIOS update for optimal performance.
Does the test pass with XMP disabled? Are you running the newest BIOS? Also, note that the memory controller resides on the CPU, not the motherboard. Any bent pins might cause these problems.
