I have a more powerful PC and internet connection compared to my friends, they load quickly. I experience high speeds once the connection drops, while I see a 20 ping.

I own a more powerful PC and faster internet than my friends, they load quickly. When I connect, the bus clears before I start loading, which helps. My setup includes a Ryzen 5 5600X with an X6700-X processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 300Mbps Ethernet connection.

The game runs on a hard disk drive, probably an older model.

Typically loading times depend on the kind of storage device you use. After it moves to RAM, it mainly interacts with random data scattered across the drive, while most operations rely on the RAM speed. Which storage device are you playing Fortnite on? SSD or HDD? Are any other programs sharing the same drive?

It might be a SATA NVMe device instead of an M.2, which could also be the reason

Do you experience any data drops during gameplay? What is your RAM capacity? Are there delays when starting the game from launch to joining the lobby? A fresh install of Fortnite might resolve the issue.
