I was working with Shadow Play and found the visual quality to be quite poor. What recording programs do you prefer? Many people recommend different tools—Fraps is available but doesn’t have enough features. It’s hard to know where to share this unless something changes.
I've tried ShadowPlay, Fraps, and other tools, but none stand out. I haven't really dived into YouTube video production or streaming, so those programs didn’t fit my needs. I did have a site about PhysX gaming news, but it was limited by a slow internet connection and a low-quality webcam, making it hard to create the content I wanted.
I rarely make YT videos (sometimes later), but for better results I use Afterburner, or I switch to GVR since it requires less CPU power.
I believe DXTory using Lagarith codec offers better image quality compared to Shadow Play, though it's lossless. You'll need a fast, high-capacity HDD and be prepared for a significant performance impact in certain games. Action is decent as well, and OBS works too—just tweak the settings for optimal results. Some titles may require different configurations.
I previously used Fraps for its performance, though the high bitrate made files cumbersome. Now I prefer OBS, which offers solid quality at manageable file sizes. DXTory seems promising based on what I've heard, with many adjustable options and a decent overlay. Action! hasn't been tried yet, but it has positive reviews. Bandicam could also be worth exploring due to its extensive customization. If you're thinking about purchasing, OBS is a solid free alternative that might meet your needs.
