Hello, I hope you can assist me with updating the BIOS on my ASUS Z87. I'm trying to upgrade from a 4790 to the 4790K and encountered some issues. After installing it, I received a post code indicating a memory error and the memory light was blinking. Once I reinstalled the 4790K, it booted up correctly using a single memory stick. After updating Windows and installing additional memory sticks, the problem returned. I'm aware that the BIOS is outdated, so I can't update it myself. I tried using the installer with the BIOS files from ASUS, but a message appeared asking for the Intel Management Engine interface driver to be properly installed. I placed the CAP file on a flash drive and thought I had found the right name, but couldn't locate a renamer tool. I've also tried flashing the BIOS by using FlashBack for a few seconds, but it didn't update. I'm stuck with the old BIOS.

Ensure the CMOS is cleared before proceeding.

Download the BIOS file. It will be compressed... extract it. Store that directory on a USB stick. Connect the USB to the rear IO port on the motherboard. Activate the BIOS flash feature within the settings. That should cover the basics. Where are you encountering problems @LapDownHarms88 ?

I’m curious about the thumb drive setup. Just place the CAP file onto the highlighted green USB port on the back, then drag it over. Press and hold the Flash Back Button for three seconds. Initially, the drive lights up once quickly, then stays lit for about a second before the back button solidifies. It completes in roughly seven seconds. Sorry if this sounds confusing—I really appreciate your help!
