Today I purchased a brand new 6950 xt reference model, and everything proceeded smoothly until it was time to connect the PCIe cables. I’m trying to figure out whether the clips should be bent down or raised up for proper connection.

The PCIe clips are not securing properly.

The clips descend, creating a faint click when passing over the bump visible in the image. You have the option to run the cable in either direction; my choice is from below.

Thanks, it started working fine after all! The only issue I noticed is the GPU producing a loud noise—uncertain if that’s typical or not. Also, in the video the GPU appears during a loading screen of a game. C529011F-4A77-4CF1-8D8B-C871A4387289.mov

I can't hear it at the moment, but I'll check it later if I recall. The probable reason seems to be coil whine, a common issue across many cards. It doesn't pose a risk to the hardware, so I'm not overly concerned. Adjusting in-game settings and possibly tweaking overclock/undervolt levels might reduce the audible noise.

Looking through the discussions now—thank you for the assistance. It’s often better to highlight another person’s answer as the solution rather than sharing your own. Coil whine can sometimes disappear on its own, and adjusting settings might help. Also, make sure nothing is touching the fan blades.
