I'm looking for a Wi-Fi adapter that works well. I've had trouble getting it to function properly, often triggering a kernel panic. You mentioned AC and 5GHz options are difficult to find. Since you're using xubuntu 4.10.0-33-generic, let me know if you need driver assistance. What adapter would suit your needs? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does it function on Linux? The setting for wireless N at 25 seems unclear—I’m not sure if there’s an issue I’m missing.

You'll need to consult another person since I don't use xubuntu or have the information ready.

I need to check USB or PCI options carefully. This is the method I use when purchasing hardware for Linux. Visit your preferred retailer, sort by price and apply filters. For each item, download the drivers from the manufacturer and search for chipset details. Then verify the chipset on the Debian wiki.
