Not finding any options yet—I'm reaching out for help. I need a switch with 16 ports, all 2.5Gbps, no POE or management required. Preferably rack-mounted but not essential. A must-have list would include MOCA and keep the price under $1k. Anyone have recommendations?

In the networking industry it's usually around 1Gb/s or 10GB/s, with 2.5Gb being a bit unusual and 16-port switches regarded as enterprise equipment. Essentially, just purchase a used 10Gb/s switch. It's quite straightforward compared to niche options like 5Gb/s, which have limited chipset availability for production. The same applies to 2.5Gb; it's very typical to find 10Gb/s devices priced similarly or lower.

Absolutely, a 16-port switch delivers serious performance at 10G. For residential needs, 2.5 ports suffice, though 5/8-port options are also available and adequate for the market.

8-port switches with 2.5G speeds are affordable and widely available now. They work well for short-term needs until you require more capacity. A search on Amazon UK reveals many budget-friendly options that support 8 ports, 2.5Gbps, plus at least one SFP for connecting to other devices beyond the 2.5G limit. 2.5G is the most popular choice among consumer products. The corresponding network interface cards cost less than half of 10G copper models, which may indicate a stronger used market for 10G due to its age.

16-port configuration will pose challenges, especially considering rackmount size adjustments. The cost should reflect this upgrade. TP-link offers a more robust alternative to its budget 8-port gigabit switch, which includes eight 2.5G ports. While it comes at a higher price point, it's designed for greater capacity. https://www.tp-link.com/us/business-netw.../#overview

Everyone, thanks. I'm considering a setup with an SFP connection between them. That product link looks promising at the moment.

He probably didn't remember to check that final item, so I wouldn't have brought it up.
