I purchased the 8X4 trident z neo kit expecting a 3600 output, but it consistently limited itself to 3200 even with XMP settings. After disabling CSM and re-enabling the auto-XMP feature, it suddenly started working properly.

It may have traded faster RAM performance for broader compatibility, as CSM enhances support for older operating systems and legacy BIOS versions.

It's surprising I hadn't thought about it before.

If earlier operating systems were designed for older hardware, memory speed could have varied. But this seems odd because it should have functioned in Windows 10 and 11 as well.

It's strange when I restart CSM and open Windows 10 right away—it freezes instantly, showing only the base RAM speed and XMP remains at 3200.

It might not be necessary at all—could work well on Windows 10 or with certain hardware. You’re probably thinking it’s not required.

I was running two operating systems at once. Now I’m turning it off since I don’t need it anymore.
