Chip O698 is a voltage controlled oscillator featuring a ceramic coaxial resonator. If that part was missing, two possibilities arise: 1. the board may eventually fail because the input regulation stops, leading to a blown cap or component breakdown; 2. it might have received extra voltage for overclocking or GPU stress, causing temporary performance drops or permanent shutdown once other parts fail.

On another hardware forum I found the solution—it's likely a resistor for a fan connector near the missing part on a standard 2070 from Nvidia. Since the fan connector is absent, it should be fine to use. Also: A voltage issue shouldn't happen during stress tests like firmware updates? What do you think?

The tricky side of any board is that each manufacturer has their own method for placement and design. What works for one might not work for another. However, with this chip positioned near the edge, I think it’s likely a fan regulator. You’re correct about the Furmark test—if it were essential, it would have been detected. Many of these redundant parts often include backup options, so it could just be that it stopped functioning permanently. @NeroHC are all the fans still active and running at the same speed?

I’d suggest steering clear of benchmarking or high-pressure programs using the GPU, including gaming beta tests. As long as you’re not pushing the card to its absolute limits, it should be fine. Still, it might be wise to set aside extra funds so you can upgrade the card later. >w<
