I disassembled my GPU just before it functioned properly, cleaned it using isopropyl alcohol, and then installed it back into my PC. It began to show artifacts. Someone could assist by checking for proper installation, ensuring connections are secure, and verifying the GPU model matches your system.

It seems you might have accidentally spilled some liquid. Could you tell me more about what happened? The amount of alcohol used and the exact cleaning process you're referring to would help clarify things.

Which GPU is being discussed? Have you refreshed the thermal paste? What amount of alcohol did you apply? I’d disassemble it for a deep clean, looking for signs of rust, residue, or old paste.

Remove it and allow it to dry more time, it may remain slightly damp. How much material did you apply? Which section were you working on, and what prompted that action? Which card is involved? Just for fun, if the result had been perfect, why would you go through this process?

It's an R9 280X I just got from a smoker about two weeks ago. It looked really messy, but the temperature was fine at around 70°C.

I used 70% a lot before, similar to what you did on Xboxes and motherboards.

I picked up a soft cloth and placed the cap on the bottle of iso. The amount I used was almost nothing.

I shouldn't have cleaned it because the heat gun wouldn't function properly, just making sure

It would be wise to polish it up and give it another shot. It’s definitely worth a try.

Sure, you might be able to try using a heat gun, even though it’s not ideal. It could help, but keep in mind the risks involved. You’re right—your GPU is a special gift from your birthday, and you should handle it carefully.
