[i Can't make my RAM run faster than it is meant to by using an XMP profile]
Hi, I have a Motherboard: an Asrock A320m HDV R4.0 Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 3200G Memory: Gskill Ripjaws V F4-3000C16S-8GVRB (8GB by 2) The BIOS version is 4.00 when I load the XMP profile at 3000MHz and 1.35v, it keeps failing and goes back to 2133MHz. I tried changing the speed to 2999MHz and that failed too. When I use just one RAM stick with the same settings (2999MHz, 1.35v), it works fine. My computer knowledge is limited so sorry if my English sounds bad. Thanks!
Sorry about the mix-up with Picasso. You are right, so please update your BIOS to version 6.2. I don't have your memory bar code, so you'll need to type in the SPD settings manually when you start up the computer. I checked your manual for DRAM timing but only found a way to change the voltage. The timing is usually under the OC Tweaker section on your motherboard. Your exact timings will be listed in CPUz when you open that window, just click on the SPD tab. You should write down those numbers and go back into the BIOS to enter them there. There isn't any guarantee that you'll get the full rated frequency; sometimes you have to lower it anyway so it works.
The G.Skill kit F4-3000C16S-8GVRB is missing from the Motherboard QVL list, which means we haven't tested it yet either. Also, your BIOS version is 4.00. On the Asrock note, they say not to update this BIOS if you are using Pinnacle, Raven, Summit or Bristol Ridge CPUs on your system. You have Pinnacle Ridge. That seems a bit confusing. Your RAM runs at 3000MHz and is OC RAM so it won't use an XMP profile.
Hi thanks for getting back to me. But wait, AMD's Ryzen 3 3200G is actually part of the Picasso family, right? I looked at the ASRock support list page you linked and it doesn't seem like they officially listed overclocking options there. Is there any way to push this CPU past its base speed of 2933MHz using manual timings or just other settings? Or can we get it going above 2133MHz without official help?
Sorry about the confusion re picasso. You are correct so update Bios to ver 6.2. I don't have your MB so you will have to enter SPD values manually in Bios. Ivé looked at your manual for DRAM Timing control but could only find Dram Voltage control. Dram timing should be somewhere in OC Tweaker section. Your SPD values will be listed in CPUz under the SPD tab. Write down the timings and enter them in Bios. There is no guarantee you will obtain the rated frequency and you may have to settle for a lower frequency.
Hi, i tried all these days with CPUz SPD values and finally today it works at 2866MHz. i don't know how long it will be stable before checking the asrock website for Bios ver 6.2, but the site shows ver 4.0 is the latest one here. https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/A320M-HDV R4.0/index.asp#BIOS Thanks.
Here are the newest BIOS updates and why I figured 6.2 was the last one for my Asrock board: https://www.asrock.com/support/index.asp?cat=BIOS Go down to HD320M-HD on that page. It might not be the exact same model if you have V-R4.0 instead.
I looked at that link and didn't see my motherboard model listed there. I thought my overclocking was stable and never crashed before. But once, just once, a blue screen appeared with the message "THREAD_STUCK_INTO_DEVICE_DRIVER". I think it's a driver problem, not an overclocking one. The error only happened once; since then, everything has been smooth as silk. Thank you for your help!
Try out your RAM with this link: https://www.hcidesign.com/memtest/. The free version works fine. Open many windows and check if you have 2000 megs of memory per one window. Leave a big chunk for Windows, like a gigabyte or two. Let the rest be under testing. You should see at least 100% on each instance to make sure RAM is stable enough. It feels like it's running at 99%. If you want 400%, I think that means absolutely perfect stability. But honestly, can't bother anymore.
Hey guys, I ran memtest but it said an error happened. It couldn't find space for 4095MB. I don't have a dedicated graphics card, so my computer is using my internal GPU and sharing some of my RAM with it. I guess that's why the test failed. Click here to see what happened.
