I have a Windows 10 computer streaming to a Denon receiver via HDMI. I need to record non-protected video but face issues with audio quality. The only option in the recorder software is the microphone, which gives audio when selected, but when playing it back, the video doesn't capture the intended sound. Occasionally it works for about an hour after rebooting the computer. How can I add a selection that functions properly?

I work with Total Recorder software. It handles both audio and video recording. The cost is fairly good. It allows setting specific recording times too.

I've tested various recording programs and still face the same issue. According to my post, the only option in the record audio area is "microphone," which produces good quality sound. I'm looking for guidance on how to use another device that will deliver the same audio when streaming content. I've visited the Denon website in search of a solution but haven't had success.

Perhaps you should consider stream-capture software. I've used the Applian Media Catcher software for capturing and saving streamed content and it gives you the highest quality that the stream is capable of. Or perhaps you just need an audio driver software update for your motherboard so that you have full access to all of the audio sources its capable of. You should have more than just microphone as an audio source; usually there's one marked Stereo Mix which allows you to capture the "what you hear" sound stream. Perhaps if you identified the specific motherboard you're using and the specific audio/video you're trying to record someone could give you a more definitive answer. (At least I could confirm if Media Catcher works for that stream).

Good input. Please let me know when you're ready to discuss suggestions and "stereo mix."

I identified the motherboard maker and refreshed all drivers. I also focused on updating auto drivers. The issue remains unchanged, and I still can't record sound.

Have you experimented with OBS? It's free and allows you to choose the audio device it captures.
