He was also making a joke about it, the GTX 1080 fits your budget, and its performance is seriously impressive. The challenge is pushing the GTX Titan X, the premium card from Maxwell. It’s nearly impossible to do better than the Titan X, which was priced at $1200. The GTX 1080 outperforms it while being half the cost at $600. With your budget, you could easily include one in your setup. It would definitely be a good investment.

Let me know, I'm here to help. You're unsure about the motherboard quality but need advice since you're using DDR4 RAM and looking for an X99 model.

As discussed, head over to Skylake if you’re mainly playing games. Opt for an i5-6600k or i7-6700k—offers better value with comparable performance. You shouldn’t exceed $200 on a motherboard under any conditions, and even that is quite high; aim for around $150.

I investigated the details, but I realized the i7-6700K isn't compatible with the x99 socket, and I'm unsure about the i5-6600K. Or maybe I'm mixing it up with another processor.

Sure, I understand. The DDR4 RAM is what you need, not just DDR3. Appreciate the clarification!
