I recently installed an 8GB DDR4 RAM stick into my Acer Aspire 5 laptop. It originally had 8GB of 2133MHz DDR4 memory, but the new stick is 8GB of 2400MHz DDR4. I looked up the compatibility and thought the system should adjust performance enough. However, sometimes it boots normally, but other times it shows a black screen and only spins the fan without starting the hard drive.

Join the discussions! It seems purchasing a slower RAM or swapping in a new module might be the best options available. AFAIK.

It starts up occasionally, which might indicate a memory issue or a problem with the laptop itself.

It seems the device may not work properly due to a memory issue.

Thanks! It seems the hard drive is likely causing the slowness. Probably just time to replace it with an SSD.

If the laptop is running slowly, the issue might be with the HDD, possibly a SATA drive. You could switch to an SATA SSD or a M.2 drive instead. If you're replacing it, I'd do that myself.

I was following the plan, I'm 15, don't have a job, and my family doesn't have much money, so money is tight. But I'm trying to get an SSD.
