It seems the issue has been occurring unpredictably. I own a SteelSeries Arctis7 wireless headset, which is currently set as my primary input and output device. I’m using Discord without any problems, but when I disconnect or restart my PC, it only functions for VOIP calls. I can still hear people entering and leaving, messages, and notifications, and I see their rings turning green while they’re talking, though I can’t pick up their voices.
I verified the audio settings in Discord, and both input and output remain at the default configuration. Changing them to Arctis7 didn’t resolve the problem. Switching servers doesn’t affect the issue either—it’s consistent across different servers, indicating it’s not related to other users.
Despite a full reset of my hard drives, reinstalling Windows 10 Home, Discord, and the SteelSeries drivers, the problem continues. It occasionally appears to fix itself if I restart Discord multiple times or reboot the computer several times. However, this pattern is completely random and doesn’t follow any logical pattern.
I did observe that Discord recognized my Arctis7 headset when I first started using it, and it worked perfectly until it stopped responding without any changes to other settings on Discord.
I managed to resolve it this time by selecting Headphones (Arctis7 Gaming) in Discord rather than SteelSeries Arctis 7 with the Certified label. I don’t understand why there’s a distinction, but I know I’ve tried similar steps before and it still leads to the same issue.
