It’s designed to be very straightforward. You just need to restore everything, since there’s no complicated steps involved. If you choose not to retain the apps, you’ll have to reinstall drivers and other components.
If you're committed to an upgrade, make sure your drivers are current and keep a backup of your Windows key in case you need it later (so you don’t have to re-enter it after the change). I’d advise against going to version 10 due to excessive bloatware and privacy concerns from Microsoft. You can’t truly remove the unnecessary software either. Personally, I’m weighing staying on Windows 7, possibly keeping version 10 on a separate drive for occasional use, but for my regular system I prefer a cleaner experience with better privacy and performance.
I'm referring to unnecessary software and data collection practices that add little value while compromising user privacy.
Microsoft offers a wide range of products including music, movies & TV, Xbox, calendar, camera, photos, email, maps, voice recorder, etc.—features you can't simply remove. Regarding privacy concerns... The company has continuous access to all files on your computer, can retrieve any passwords, monitor your activities, and listen to audio from your microphone. There are also reports suggesting that switching to Windows 10 with new hardware requires purchasing a fresh license, as reactivation isn't possible like with previous versions. (This may not be accurate, but several tech news outlets have reported on this issue.)
Hey there!
That was a mistake—let's share it in the right place.
I've been using Windows 10 before its major update and never faced any problems. I don’t care about Microsoft’s data collection efforts. If they need it to enhance their products, fine; I’m not that unique and have nothing to conceal. Even on the first day, Windows 10 was the best operating system I’ve used. Regarding unnecessary software, I spent just a few minutes removing a couple of games and installing Chrome and Dropbox. No drivers were required. It was the most seamless installation I've had.
Backup files really matters. Use Magical Jelly Bean to retrieve your product keys. At the minimum, remove the graphics driver. Disconnect external devices, particularly those holding valuable data. That’s the short list I give. If issues arise, you can at least reinstall your old Windows using your product key and retain all your information.
