Hi everyone. In my home I installed two routers. The first is a simple modem/router that links straight to ADSL. You can find more info here: https://support.netcommwireless.com/product/nb604n The second is a standalone router with improved wireless capabilities and coverage compared to the first. It connects to a LAN port on the first device. https://www.tp-link.com/au/download/Archer-C5.html My internet works well, but I’m curious if it’s possible to turn off all routing functions on the first router so it only functions as a modem. This would help avoid any network configuration headaches like port forwarding. Thanks ahead!

For best performance, set the modem/router combo to bridge mode. If bridge isn't available, turn off all advanced settings like QOS and place the downstream router in the upstream router's DMZ. This keeps double NAT active without anyone noticing.
