I used MiniTool partition wizard 10.1 to move my C disk to a new NVMe drive, but it didn’t update the drive letters. I thought the new drive would boot up and the old one wouldn’t. Disk 1 is my old C drive, and disk 3 is the new NVMe. It seems the data copied correctly and partitions were set right, yet the system still doesn’t recognize the new drive. I’m confused about this process and would appreciate some guidance.
Ensure the new drive is recognized as bootable. Set it as the primary boot device in the system settings. Once installed, the operating system should detect its own partition as C:.
In the boot order area, you see the old Windows Boot Manager on the previous drive but not the new one. It seems like the new drive isn’t showing up there, so you’ll need to adjust the settings elsewhere to properly configure it.
In the boot order part, it seems the MiniTool likely doesn’t fully duplicate everything such as the boot sector. Most users prefer tools like Macrium Reflect for creating exact clones, ensuring all partitions are properly copied.
I resolved the issue using Macrium Reflect. Even though it didn’t show up on the other drive, I fixed it by applying the Rescue Media tool and updating the bootloader. All seems to be working now. Thanks for recommending Macrium Reflect! FYI, I followed this tutorial.
