Hello, here are your questions rephrased:

1. When linking a server to your router, will it work as a remote server via SSH from another network, or will you be limited by its private IP address? Your public IP appears during speed tests, but you can only connect using your private IP on the local machine. When configuring the server, you see your private range (like 192.168.xxx) while external testing shows your public IP. You’ve had success with SSH using your private IP on a device on the same network.

2. If you connect it to multiple Ethernet ports connected to your modem instead of the router, would it still operate? What types of ports are available and what are some budget-friendly options? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Usually you have to configure port forwarding so the server’s ports are accessible externally. 2. Are you referring to a switch? Any switch would suffice—just purchase an affordable gigabit unmanaged model. Port forwarding should function identically.
