My AMD FX 8120 shows temperature fluctuations from about 24°C to around 44°C on the desktop, but the BIOS reports 78°C. You tried reapplying thermal paste—anyone know why this discrepancy occurs?

The sensor seems to be malfunctioning—I’m not sure how to handle this! I own a PC with an FX 4100, but it doesn’t work at all. Strange.

Maybe the CPU cooler needs attention.

Your cooler isn't cooling properly, or maybe the Mobo sensors aren't active. If you don't see thermal throttling happening, everything should be okay.

Zambezi's temperature detector seems unusual... relax.

I played Resident Evil Village for roughly half an hour with no issues, and the afterburner displayed temperatures between 75 and 79 degrees.

If it isn't thermal throttling (and believe me, you'll know when Zambezi throttles), don't worry about it. The thermal sensor is not accurate when it isn't close to Tjmax.
