It might stem from a PSU problem, since some powerful GPUs experience brief surges in current that the power supply interprets as faults and shuts down.

These are the issues I've been facing with my system lately - running 5700X3D, 7900Xt, and an 850 80+Gold PSU. The outlook isn’t great at the moment. There’s a glimmer of hope though; it tends to improve after I make some physical adjustments or reorganize components. Yesterday, when I swapped out a new shroud for my GPU (though problems appeared before that change), I couldn’t complete the Unigine Superposition test. After restarting, re-seating the card, and reconnecting the PCIe power cables, things seem to be stabilizing. I still experience periods without issues, but once crashes start, I have to go through a series of steps to get it working again. P.S. Initially, I thought the AMD drivers were the culprit since this is my first Radeon card, but it’s worth noting that someone else with an nVidia card had the same trouble. It might still work at lower voltage and cause a restart if it came from the same supplier.

I think the Ryzen CPU might be defective in this setup. Consider using a different CPU for his PC.

They’re not worth it, yet they keep running into problems. This makes me think you’ve had bad luck twice already with these units—so come back and order another one. If it’s still broken, then the fourth one is too. Build your own PC with a solid 1000W PSU and good parts, and see if it holds up.

Can you check a spare unit or your quality PSU inside the system? Are temperatures normal? If RAM only runs at JEDEC speed, what are the conditions? Has the tested RAM and GPU/CPU passed OCT or similar tests? Can you run the GPU in his PC? Does it function with two monitors at the same resolution? Are both Display ports available? Just trying to hold onto anything...
