I acquired a used HP desktop from school, added a graphics card, and installed Windows 10. However, when I connected my Ethernet cable to the old machine, there were no lights and no connection. After doing some research, I suspect the Ethernet ports might be dead. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

Check if all pins are functional or if one is faulty.

Consider purchasing a gigabit Ethernet card if your board has PCI ports available. A reliable USB receiver would also be suitable, especially with strong Wi-Fi connectivity.

I purchased a USB Wi-Fi adapter that was supposed to function, but I need to understand how to troubleshoot any issues.

I've reinstalled Caps and SMDS on RAM as well as boards, but fixing a damaged wire in an Ethernet port would be beyond my expertise or experience. I might consider purchasing an Ethernet card, which are usually affordable.

You must fully replace the Ethernet port, do you have a picture of it?
