I believe the hot PCI sound card connected via PCIe to PCI is leading to an issue with your computer.
I have made this thread before, but I realized I think this is a real problem and I have to find a solution before I could use my PCI Audio Interface again. My previous thread: I realize that the second L22 (The working one) that I'm using with the PCIex1 to PCI adapter ( ASM1083 chipset) is really hot. I've tried to touch it, and I barely could hold my finger on it, it burns. I tried to compare it with my GPU, it's just incomparable. My question is that I don't remember having the L22 this hot before I used the adapter (PCIex1 to PCI). Is it always this hot? I'm really trying hard to recall. Could it also be a problem? I unplugged everything and planning to figure out what's going on before I start to break things more than I have. Also, find a solution before I'm going to use this card again, I love this card so much. Note: I have realized this few days ago, I tried to ask questions in and the responds were convincing me that it's normal, chips are hot. Well, it's true, but I wasn't even using the card, it's hot already. All this started after I upgraded my PC to a latest motherboard, which doesn't support PCI natively. If it is actually a problem do you have any suggestions? or maybe an adapter that you think fits better? or maybe check voltage on the adapter? maybe use a step down? Here's the picture of my adapter: I'm sorry for your time, I hope the greatest thing for you guys there. Thanks, cheers! P.S. I started to worry after my PC is rebooting twice out of nowhere. Here are the options I have for the adapter: Using ASM1083 using A SM1083
Take a look at the device briefly to check if it restarts unexpectedly after removal. Identify which parts are generating excess heat and consider adding small cooling pads if needed. Also, think about whether you really need the old PCI sound card—there are PCI-e options available, or you might bypass the USB interface entirely with a USB DAC.
Hey, thank you for your respond, and yes you're right about this old part, but here's why. PCIe Audio Interface with this capability would cost 1000usd up, and yes I am actually planning to buy some, RME HDSPe AIO Pro and RME RayDat, just not now yet. But, even when I finally get the newer versions, I wouldn't throw this one away, I'd still use it to build an extra studio with this. I really think it'd be a waste of good items to throw this away. The point of my question is what could cause such heat, when previously, with native PCI port motherboard, it was just warm. This thing heats up like a hair dryer. I've pulled up the card, and my PC runs just fine without the card, something is definitely wrong. Could the heats on the card caused the sudden shut down?
