I got my i5 12100f out of the box and got it with the plastic cover. I put pressure into the plastic cover just enough to sense the top silver plate of the cpu that says the brand and the generation. Is it broken ? I really wanted to test it but im still waiting on my motherboard.

It seems like you just gave a light squeeze to the plastic part. That should be okay with your CPU. Plastics can handle some movement, and dropping it in a higher place shouldn’t cause issues.

Avoid attempting this. Refrain from deliberately damaging your CPU. Understand that light pressure on the plastic won’t achieve the result.

Unless you possess extraordinary power, forcing a CPU without pins in such a way won't damage it.
