It varies by game. If it doesn't preserve your progress upon exiting via the menu or pressing alt+f4

Since I use a 60% keyboard, pressing Fn+4 brings me to F4. In some games this means it's quicker to open the menu and exit instead of moving the mouse to press Fn.

Also using a different key layout sometimes helps. It feels off not closing it with the designated option in the game.

I also notice the missing F row; it still relies on that part. This is typical when talking about games like Fortnite and BF2042.
