I got lucky with my old i5-4690k upgrade last month. Everything seems to be functioning properly except for the memory CL setting. The rig now runs a 5900x + X570 AORUS ULTRA (F33h) with a HyperX 4x8GB (HX436C17FB3K4/32). The initial XMP profile aimed for 3600-CL17 @ 1.35v, but it fell back to 3600-CL18 @ 1.38v, according to the motherboard report. I’m puzzled about why this happens. I tried forcing CL17 together with other parameters directly in the BIOS timing section, but it didn’t work. Aida32 confirmed it’s CL18 compatible (see picture), yet it should support CL17. I’m not sure if a big difference would occur, but the sheet says CL17 is okay. Thanks in advance!

There is a setting in the memory stuff, I think its Gear down mode? Could be wrong, but it will round it up to an even number.

Keep in mind, generally maintaining a balance between the Memory clock and Fclock is ideal—around 3600mhz seems optimal, though Anthony's initial tests on Ryzen processors revealed some intriguing outcomes.
