It's worth the investment, even when priced high. You really need to give it a shot if you doubt its quality. The port feels decent overall, though the KB+M controls are quite problematic. Don't overlook DSfix either. Still, the game has its shortcomings, but they're easy to spot once you dive in. It's designed to challenge your perspective—once you're in, you'll realize how much you've been missing. Be mindful of the community, though; there are a lot of arrogant people around. And always do your research. The biggest issue is its lack of clarity and the amount of hidden content.
You can change the resolution to 1080p and adjust the frame rate to 58, which should work without causing issues with the game.
I share your views on everything discussed here, except for the one mentioned. Halo 1 stood out because it didn't just boost enemy health to raise difficulty—it also didn't raise the enemy count. Instead, it sharpened the AI, making them more aggressive and tougher to defeat. They launched more grenades (not at CoD intensity), improved accuracy, fired faster, pressed closer to you rather than staying hidden, and often tried flanking or pinning you. Most enemies also received a rank boost, which added health but also enhanced all these traits. Halo 1 truly presented a challenging experience on Legendary. While I might say Halo 2 was even more demanding solo on Legendary, comparing it directly to Dark Souls isn't quite fair—these games demand completely different approaches. Halo focused on precision, speed, and FPS mastery. Dark Souls leans toward strategy, timing, and deep understanding. Don’t understate Dark Souls (it’s excellent), but once you master boss tactics, defeating them becomes almost effortless—similar to how the Zelda series works. Eventually, with practice, you can defeat most bosses with minimal damage thanks to your skill. Raising the framerate above 30fps isn’t safe; it disrupts animation timing and can cause gameplay issues. Above that, other problems emerge, like falling through the floor or map if you slide down a ladder at higher speeds.
60fps works okay. Just watch out for jumps and sliding down ladders. Raising the frame rate can improve physics but might cause issues with secret items appearing or you getting clipped when floors move. As DSFIX suggests, it's better to stay under 60. I set the frame limit to 144, which made my sprint speed slower than normal walking.
