Being fair in certain regions means you have limited options. Everyone is tuned into channel 36, and 149-165 isn’t available everywhere. I just noticed it got reopened in the UK, but I still experience performance drops on 149 without a clear cause. Also, not all gadgets were updated to support that channel—Nintendo seems to have left the Switch without a recent fix.
IoT gadgets and smart TVs often connect well on channels 36 to 48, though they usually belong to the WiFi 4 era. Selecting a channel isn't always easy when a completely open one isn't available. Adapting could mean using a narrower bandwidth, which reduces speed. Also, if a neighbor's signal is weak (-80dBm or lower), it shouldn't interfere much with yours if alternatives are limited.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I understand you've already tested several 5GHz channels, but the results didn't improve things. There are no houses nearby, and you tried to use the 80MHz band while forcing it into lower frequencies. The speeds actually decreased, and on some channels, you got stuck at around 650 Mbps or lower. It seems the issue isn't with the channel selection but possibly with the network conditions or your device settings. Let me know if you'd like help troubleshooting further.
