I bought a used HP ProLiant 380p G8 for $60. I’m new to servers, but I want to get it up and running. It doesn’t have any storage, so I thought I could boot it like an Ubuntu Server from a USB drive. There was a system error light, and after removing everything except the bare minimum, I found a short cable on the storage board. I’m not seeing any other issues, but I can’t get video output. Someone with experience would be great to help—maybe they could take it apart if needed. I also reached out to the manufacturer, but it’s out of warranty and they can’t assist much.
