the pre-built i got was a solid choice for 600 but it was listed for the 1x8 stick to run at 2666, yet it came out at 3200 and still works well. i ordered another 2x8 kit with 3200 and 25600 ram but instead received a 1x16 kit. i tried connecting them to see if they’d work together and they did. however, the speeds dropped to 2666, and i can’t turn on xmp in the bios since the system is garbo and i don’t know any tools to adjust ram speeds. additionally, updating the bios would be tricky—i’m not sure how to do that either.

Shifted to CPUs, boards, and RAM. It’s important to identify your motherboard model or a prebuilt version before offering guidance. If it’s prebuilt, the slot is probably locked. You also have two separate capacity cables; they can’t be merged like two identical ones.

my mb is named Erica 8643. both sticks were functional for a while, but then the one that came with it stopped working and died. i think it won't post anymore and it beeps a random code. i tested it in both slots with and without the new stick, but it wouldn't work no matter what. my new 1x16 stick is fine now, probably it just gave up on its sad life.

It seems you're asking if the 1x8 3200 stick and the 1x16 3200 stick are compatible since they both operated at 2666. Let me clarify that for you.
