It’s covered under HP’s warranty, so they’ll fix it if necessary. Running UEFI Bios Diagnostics on the fan/thermal controls showed a CPU Fan Failure—passed at 60% and 80% speed but not up to 100%. This raises the question: how likely is it for two distinct fans to share the same failure?
Use the identical motherboard and header. Adjust it to 80% capacity. If a different fan header exists, connect it there. Ensure fan speed is also set to 100% on that additional header.
It comes with HP’s guarantee, so they’re respecting that and will swap it if necessary. Ran the UEFI Bios Diagnostics on the fan/thermal section and received a CPU Fan Failure result. It passed at 60% speed and 80%, but failed to start spinning up to 100%. I’m confused about this. Could two different fans share the same failure? Also, when they swapped the OEM air cooler for a Water Rad and replaced my RTX 3060 Ti with the OEM 3090, they returned my original GPU. After reviewing the UEFI results, they offered to send it back—free shipping included under warranty. They plan to replace the entire motherboard. The first time I shipped it, they detected both CPU and fan faults. So… the Mobo issue seems to be another oversight?
HP has replaced my 30L twice; once for the CPU cooling unit which still didn’t work. The second time they swapped out the whole motherboard because the fan control module was faulty, and it’s still running at high temps between 55-76°C. Running the UEFI diagnostic shows the CPU fan doesn’t reach 80% or 100%. I’m really worried about sending it back to HP… Any advice would be appreciated!
