I bought this HP OMEN 16 with a 6800H and a 3070Ti. The laptop performed well initially, but after some use the CPU plummeted to just 0.39Ghz, making it unusable. I learned from others that HP released a BIOS update for this model, which was later patched. I visited the website, downloaded and installed the newest BIOS (older versions weren’t available). The problem continued—after a while it worked again, then crashed back to 0.39Ghz. The power settings were set to maximum performance in the Omen app; balanced settings didn’t help. Regular restarts didn’t solve it. Plugging in and out didn’t fix anything. Restarting the BIOS restored normal operation temporarily. Occasionally it worked, then would freeze at 0.39Ghz again. Unfortunately, even the AMD Ultimate Utility tool didn’t help. Any advice would be appreciated.

It seems like a temperature concern—have you checked your core readings with tools like HWinfo?

I’m not sure what the problem actually was, but it worked out by itself. That’s pretty cool.

All prices stayed below 80 cents – the laptop is just two days old, lol!
