Hi everyone, review this scan below using my HP laserjet 3302 FDW:
You notice the slight gray background box behind each letter?
That isn't in the original file—it's just an artifact from the scanning process.
It’s quite problematic because it appears when I print a copy of the document, looking terrible...
Is this a software issue with HP equipment or a widespread scanner problem?
Are there any steps I can take to get a clean, high-quality scan?
Thanks.

Did you verify it was a document scan or a picture scan?
Adjust your scan software or driver settings so you're scanning documents, not images (like JPEGs).

When working with documents that contain only black text on a white background, set the scanner to Black-and-White mode and avoid Greyscale. You might need to perform a few test scans and fine-tune the Brightness/Darkness settings to ensure the scanner accurately interprets intermediate tones, resulting in a clean scan where the background remains white. This approach is suitable when the text isn't entirely black but has a consistent color tone. Greyscale scanning should only be used for pages with photos or sketches that have varying shades of darkness.
