I recently acquired an HP Elitebook 8560w. A few days prior I adjusted the BIOS and set up Ubuntu 21.10 smoothly. Today Ubuntu 22.04 arrived, prompting me to perform a fresh installation. I recalled from my previous attempt that the USB installer mentioned text mode was turned off, so I modified the BIOS configuration accordingly. The installation completed successfully, and I rebooted the system. However, the laptop now displays "no operating system found" on the disk. I retried the 21.10 clean install but encountered the same problem. I reset the BIOS settings but when attempting to enter it, the BIOS menu would redirect me to a Diagnostics screen that would restart the computer each time I exited. Running diagnostics and exiting didn’t resolve the issue. I removed the battery, power cord, and CMOS battery to clear the CMOS and regain access to the BIOS. Continuing to fine-tune settings proved ineffective, so I repeated the process multiple times. After several attempts, I realized that exiting the BIOS after a CMOS reset still triggered the infinite diagnostics screen regardless of BIOS configuration. It appears none of the adjustments resolved the problem, and I’m uncertain about the role of TPM. I should note I recreated the installation media midway through to ensure a fresh start.
