HP Chromebook keeps trying to fix up the operating system even though it stops working
Hello, I'm having trouble with my HP Chromebook 14-x013dx laptop. When I turn it on, the screen stays blank and nothing loads up. I can hear the Google chime sound. I plugged an HDMI cable into a TV port, but only see a white screen with a mouse icon moving when I move the mouse pad around. It's just a completely empty white screen. I followed these steps: hold down ESC, refresh, and Power, then let go again. Suddenly, a small screen pops up saying Chrome OS is missing or damaged. I need to insert a recovery USB stick or SD card. But in this link above, step one doesn't work for me so I move on to step two using a USB stick to restore things. On a Windows computer, I followed the instructions and used the model number that appears on my Chromebook laptop to create a Chrome USB restore stick. It downloads and makes the USB stick with no problems and says complete. I click done. When I go back to my Chromebook with the new USB stick, it should have the recovery module working, but instead, I get the screen again saying Chrome OS is missing or damaged. I insert the USB stick and the screen disappears completely then turns black doing nothing else. The USB stick has a light on it that flashes over and over again and I've left it sitting there for hours with no reaction. The HDMI connection to my TV also shows nothing at all. Just checking if anyone else had this same problem on another Chromebook and if you have a fix or something else that works. I can't find anything else that functions right now.
Your Chromebook is old, but that doesn't mean your hard drive broke or anything serious happened.
