HP 255 G8
HP 255 G8
Hey everyone, just wanted to share something tricky. My HP 255 g8 (Athlon Silver 3050U) laptop had a screen problem. After swapping the old one, everything worked fine—until I got a new screen. That fresh screen kept acting weird, which was confusing since I always get replacement screens from the same supplier without any issues. Now, if I install the HP display driver, the screen turns all white and external monitors don’t show anything. Switching to an AMD driver fixes it, but the screen still doesn’t turn on unless I connect an external monitor. I also changed the display cable, yet the problem persists. In Device Manager with the AMD driver installed, I see a yellow warning next to the display even though it lists the AMD device.
Start in safe mode, employ ddu to completely erase both amd hp display drivers, then reinstall only the newest amd driver. 2. Verify the precise model of the original panel against the replacement. If they differ, look for the matching model included with the laptop. 3. When a yellow exclamation appears in Device Manager, attempt to force a have disk driver install for the GPU to determine if it resolves the issue. If none of these steps succeed, it may indicate the GPU’s internal display output channel was damaged during the initial screen failure—this often points to external issues rather than internal problems.
Thanks a lot, I’ve already tried steps 1 and 2. I didn’t realize I missed something. It’s unclear whether I attempted step 3; if the driver from the HP laptop is installed, which should cause both screens to turn off, then I need to either restart the driver with Win+ctrl+shift+B or enter safe mode to use the external monitor. Appreciate your help! I’ll give it one more shot and let you know what I find.
No success yet, but appreciate the ideas. I believe this board has faced challenges before.
