I'm dealing with an HP laptop model 15-AY127CA that's behaving oddly. When the letter "a" is pressed, it types "/a" instead of "a". Holding shift causes "|A" to appear instead of "A". It seems like the keyboard or its connection might be faulty. I've checked online tools and found that pressing the A key only registers as "A" on the tester, not "/a". Recently, I tried several fixes: new keyboards, OS reinstall, driver updates, BIOS changes, tweaking settings, using an external keyboard, and even switching to an on-screen keyboard. All worked except the main issue. The problem appears to be with the keyboard itself or its interface. I'm hoping someone can help me avoid recycling this device since losing typing functionality is a big concern.

It seems the main component is the motherboard, as all other parts have been removed. Disconnect the keyboard and clean the connector.

I agree, it’s tricky to remove a ZIF connector. I tried using IPA on a q-tip but didn’t get any results. It’s possible something on the motherboard is interfering.

Inspect the ribbon cable on the keyboard, examine the connector pins, verify they’re all forming a strong bond. Once confirmed... I’m uncertain about the root cause, and even if identified, it seems unlikely most people could resolve it.

I've already attempted to adjust the solder joints, but nothing changed. I examined the pins inside the ZIF connector with a magnifying glass and they appear normal. Appreciate the assistance.
