I've just begun using Popcorn Time, and it appears quite unstable. I often have to attempt three different episodes before it begins downloading. Sometimes it freezes during connection, sometimes when starting the download, and occasionally at a certain percentage it halts. I haven't experienced uninterrupted playback of the next episode without freezing or delays at the start. It also seems to limit or restrict my download speed, which is much lower than my typical 50+mb/s. Usually I get between 19.2KB/s and 50KB/s, with only a few active peers connected. The app displays download speeds but shows a much slower percentage. Playing an episode doesn't allow me to move the window, and once it finishes downloading there are no further issues. TL;DR: I'm facing numerous problems getting episodes to download smoothly, especially on slower networks. Although it's a newer app, it has some serious performance issues. Have you encountered similar problems? I'm certain I'm on the latest version.

It relies on BitTorrent, so it's likely your ISP is slowing you down. Check the link for more details. I tested it on http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparenc...t-mlab.php and it worked fine. I mostly stream movies, not PopcornTime.
