Apogee MIC is compatible only with Mac (Unix) systems, which I didn’t consider during purchase. I bought it for Windows use and followed the instructions on the website. It functions in recording apps that let you select a default driver, like FL Studio.

To address your questions:
A. Changing ASIO4ALL to be the primary Windows driver isn’t feasible since Windows uses WDM.
B. Configuring Skype to use the MIC for calls aligns with your original intent.

There exists a clever method to enable Apogee mic functionality on Windows 7 and possibly Windows 8. This approach goes beyond just ASIO and incorporates MME/directx drivers as well. As Apogee mic is classified under USB Audio Class 2.0 (UAC2), it functions natively on MAC OS (OSX 10.6.4 and newer) and certain modern Linux ALSA drivers. However, Windows lacks native USB 2.0 audio support... Yet another option is Thesycon, a company that provides universal UAC2 drivers for OEM makers. Many Hi-Fi DAC brands also offer tailored versions of their drivers. Additionally, the BLUE Yeti PRO microphone utilizes its own drivers to operate on Windows. Can we adapt the BLUE Yeti Pro driver for Apogee mic on Windows? ABSOLUTELY! We can do it! You won’t need Asio4all at all.

To install Apogee mic using the BLUE Yeti PRO driver on Windows:
1. Visit the Blue homepage and download "YetiPro_Windows7_DriverA".
2. Go to Thesycon’s site and obtain the Apogee MIC USB PID & VID numbers.
3. Plug your mic into a USB port and run the TDD tool, selecting your device from the list.
4. After setup, copy the VID and PID numbers (vendor and product ID).
5. Disconnect the mic from the USB port.
6. Open the Yeti driver, load the two .inf files: "BLUE_YETI_PRO.inf" and "BLUE_YETI_PROks.inf".
7. Search for matching entries in both files, such as:
- "BLUE YETI PRO" = Install
- USB\VID_074d&PID_0001 two entries for "BLUE_YETI_PRO.inf"
- USB\VID_0074d&PID_0001&KS two entries for "BLUE_YETI_PROks.inf"
8. Save the resulting .inf files.
9. Launch the Yeti driver “setup.exe” after disconnecting the mic; it will prompt for installation. Click next and confirm you accept the signed driver installation.
10. Once complete, your mic will appear in Device Manager under Yeti Pro 10.
11. Now you have both MME and ASIO UAC2 drivers installed for your Apogee mic on Windows 7/8. You can use this setup with any MME/WDM recording software, and since the ASIO driver is MME-compatible, it also works with ASIO as the Yeti driver. You’re free to use your mic for Skype and other applications!

Additional advice here... For checking your USB device's VID&PID, use the Thesycon USB Description dumper at the provided link. The Blue Yeti Pro runs with an older 1.29 sysex driver, but a newer version (v1.70) is available for the M2Tech HiFace Two device. The HiFace driver can also be applied during Apogee MIC installation on Windows, following the same steps as for the Yeti Pro driver. You'll need to modify the VID&PID in the *.inf files to match your MIC device and run the setup. It worked well on Windows 7 Pro; it might function on Windows 8, but compatibility mode might be necessary since this driver isn't WHQL and was made for Windows 7. Overall, the Apogee Mic should work with Windows for any MME/WDM app, including standard Audacity (not ASIO compiled) and Skype.

I've essentially the same issue, attempting to get MiC on Windows 8.1. I pulled the M2Tech driver files and changed the inf files accordingly. The process involved updating several files: [_Models] "hiFace TWO"=_Install, USB\VID_0C60&PID_000B [_Models.ntamd64] "hiFace TWO"=_Install, USB\VID_0C60&PID_000B [_Models] "M2Tech hiFace TWO UAC2"=_Install, TUSBAUDIO_ENUM\VID_0C60&PID_000B&KS "M2Tech hiFace TWO UAC1"=_Install, TUSBAUDIO_ENUM\VID_0C60&PID_000B&KS [_Models.ntamd64] "M2Tech hiFace TWO UAC2"=_Install, TUSBAUDIO_ENUM\VID_0C60&PID_000B&KS I ran setup.exe in compatibility mode for Windows 7 (I'm on 8.1), it recognized the MiC connection but the install failed: "ERROR: Pre-installation of 'C:\.....\m2techusbaudioks.inf' failed." I'm trying to use the Blue Yeti driver too, but it seems I can only find the newer version that doesn't let me extract or modify the .inf files. Anyone have a suggestion for the driver mentioned here? I'm really stuck and need some guidance.
