How to undo AI Suite 3 CPU OC?
When I first got my computer, I installed AI Suite 3 and performed the CPU overclocking there. Later, I realized that was a mistake. I have a 4790 and it has been running at 4ghz for some time, but I just want it back to the normal base of 3.6ghz. I've tried uninstalling AI Suite 3, adjusting BIOS settings to default optimized configurations, and disabling any related settings under "AI Tweaker" concerning the base ratio or clock. The CPU still runs at 4ghz despite changing BIOS settings and multiple reboots. I have no idea where else to look or what to do next.
i have an intel 6700k with a stock base clock of 4.0ghz/4.2ghz turbo. when running at default settings, it consistently operates at 4.2ghz. you can disable turbo in the bios. i would also remove asus ai suite if needed. installing any asus software is not advised.
You understand that the 4790's boost frequency is 4GHz, isn't it? That could explain what you're observing.

But is it acceptable for it to operate at that frequency continuously, even when idle? I assumed boost frequencies activate only during high demand.
