After the crisis, I borrowed a copy of the game from a friend and need to set up play to recognize the files. How should I do that?

Place the game in Uplay's directory (location unknown) > Open it from the file menu > It appears in your library> Done!

Yes, you should look for files named install.exe or setup.exe in your downloads or installation folder.
