How to split one desktop or monitor into four separate virtual desktops suitable for office data display purposes.
Hello,
In my office we use a display PC that runs Dexpot to split the screen into four sections called 'virtual desktops'. These act like separate desktops and are used for showing news and two other industry-related live data trackers across the office.
The main challenge is that Dexpot often causes issues, leading to black screens or freezes. I usually have to manually fix the problem in the PC, which can happen multiple times early in the day before it stabilizes later.
I’m seeking a solution to divide a single desktop into four equal tiles without bezels, ensuring fullscreen mode so the Windows taskbar isn’t visible. Additionally, each virtual desktop should allow fullscreen access to its content, eliminating the taskbar at the bottom of the tile.
Any suggestions would be very helpful, as I’m not sure where to look for a fix and haven’t found anything online yet.
Thank you.
You investigate the problem by checking if it's related to heat, possibly due to loose connections that only become stable after warming up. Afterward, any cooling attempts may result in the screens going black or freezing.
Update your post with complete system hardware details and operating system information for the host PC.
Specify the PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used).
List the disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, current usage.
Check if you purchased Dexpot and whether you reached out to their support team.
Review Reliability History and Event Viewer on the host PC; these tools can capture error codes, warnings, or event details just before or when the screens freeze.
Reliability History is more intuitive, offering a clear timeline that helps identify recurring issues and patterns.
By manually addressing the problem, I mean I use the wireless mouse and keyboard with the monitor to double-click on the frozen or black tile in Dexpot, which brings that area into fullscreen or desktop view, resolving the issue. Then I return to the Dexpot display and check all four tiles sections. The host PC runs an i5 4950s, has 16GB DDR3 RAM, a GT 710 GPU, and a 500GB hard drive with about 65% space remaining.
Yes, we are using the Dexpot you mentioned, but I’m sorry—I don’t know where we bought it since this fix was done before I arrived. I haven’t reached out to Dexpot support.
I’ll review the Reliability History and Event Viewer.
Thank you for your reply.
