Start a new setup on your Samsung Magician SSD. You’ll need a USB drive for the secure erase process. The recommended size is typically 4GB or more, depending on your system requirements. Follow the instructions carefully to ensure a smooth installation.

Hello, would you like assistance with this concept? Yes, I can help explain whether booting via USB followed by a secure erase is a viable approach.

I never tried anything like this before. Just insert a USB drive and let the program run; if it works without issues, it should be fine. If not, ensure the drive is large enough. After completion, the USB will erase everything on it. At that stage, you’d want to remember you didn’t back up that important file. If it fails, reinstall the OS and try again—otherwise, your computer might stop working unexpectedly. Please be careful!

The Samsung secure erase requires a USB stick to generate a bootable DOS tool on the stick since you're trying to wipe the storage where the utility is stored, preventing it from operating and deleting itself. The flash utility is compact and a 1GB drive would suffice—it must be empty. Keep in mind, this method only functions with 470 and 830 series Samsung SSDs.
